Breakfast: More Than Just Coffee??

I, for one, have never been much of a breakfast girl. Give me a steaming (temperature depending on the weather, of course) cup of coffee and I'm all set. If I'm working then usually I'll grab a granola bar or a banana. You've probably heard about the rumor going around, that breakfast is like, the most important meal of the day or something. Apparently it's the truth. The only rumor in the world that is true.

In my mind, every meal is important. Am I right? Feel free to nod. As a veggie, I'm supposed to be prettyyyyy darn attentive to my nutrients, more so than I was pre-veg. Gotta get that protein. And it's harder than it seems.

So I've added yet another thing to my list of priorities {I'm going to have to start making certain priorities priorities, because I have so many}. And I've decided to tackle it one meal at a time, hence this breakfast post.

Are there any good veggie blogs out there that you know of? Any favorite recipes? Fill me in!

  1. Protein shakes are amazing. As you know, I have been on a mission to lose weight/look the best I can possibly look. I used to just eat fruit for breakfast but I found that I wasn't eating enough... which seems like it isn't so bad, but it can really do a number on your immune system and metabolism.

A few days a week, I supplement my typical breakfast of black coffee and cantaloupe with a protein shake - scoop of whey protein, half a cup of frozen berries, couple tablespoons of milled flax seed, half a banana, a teaspoon of unsweetened hot cocoa mix and empty two capsules of Chitosan (to give the ol' metabolism a boost).

I have not been eating meat for a bit just because I haven't been keen on the idea of it as of late and the protein shake gives me the protein I need AND keeps me full and ready to go all morning. Give it shot, bb!

  2. oh I am SUCH a breakfast person! Hands down favorite meal of the day. I always make oatmeal (with soy/almond milk, a banana/apple, and a spoonful of peanut butter for protein) :)

  4. I LOVE breakfasts. Not only the most important but also the best meal of the day :-)

If I'm in a hurry I make a smoothie of 1 banana, 1 raw egg (you don't feel the taste of it in the smoothie), a handful or two of frozen blueberries, some plain yoghurt and some water to make a little less thick. Sometimes I add grated ginger as well, it gives a fresh feeling to it all!

There's a Swedish breakfast blog that I can recommend (she translates her posts to English), morningdiaries.blogg.se. She's not a vegetarian, but I am and I still find a lot of inspiration from her posts.

  5. One word for you: JUICER. Kale (protein!), carrots, beet, lime, ginger, apple juice is literally my favorite breakfast in the world. AND it wakes me up better than coffee ever did (which I drank from 11-18. don't let your future kids be actors) and is a really awful color and makes strangers look at you a little crazy. Who doesn't enjoy that? ((I swear I am emailing you back. Swear!))

  10. I have to really will myself to eat breakfast every day. If not, it'll just be coffee followed by a green tea a couple of hours later (love my hot drinks, apparently). I don't have a lot of time to prepare my breakfast, so I'll usually hard boil a few eggs for the week and have that with a Greek yogurt or something. My boyfriend really likes this oatmeal recipe (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/steel-cut-oatmeal-recipe/index.html). Make a big batch, refrigerate the rest and done!
